          The Muka Head Research Station is geared for research into tropical marine and coastal science.

   At the station are:
   Laboratories and Hatcheries
  • Water quality laboratoy
  • Taxonomy laboratory
  • Plankton laboratory
  • Microscopy laboratory
  • Indoor hatcheries
  • Open air hatcheries

  Sea Water and Aeration System

  • Running sea system with primary, secondary and tertiary filtration. Aeration is provided by two air compressors.
  • Concrete and fibreglas tanks for culture work.
  Marine sampling facilities
  • 36 footer boat with three crewman
  • Landing jetty
  • SCUBA facilities
  • Sample freezers and cold rooms
  Accomodation and Meals

         Accomodation

     The Station can house 80 students and 20 scientists at any one time. Students are housed in dormitories while scientists and academia can opt for the flatlets. However application and booking are to be mede in advance. Only personnel involved in courses, research and teaching at the station are allowed accomodation here.

         

       Meals

       Meals for largre groups can be catered .Please advise well in advance. The scientists chalets are equipped with shared kitchens.
